From 1 to 3 July 2026, the University of Catania will welcome scholars from across Europe and beyond for the 13th Biennial Conference of the ECPR Standing Group on the European Union (SGEU), one of the leading international events dedicated to European Union studies.
The conference will bring together researchers from political science, law, economics, sociology, history, and related disciplines to discuss the major challenges facing the European Union in a rapidly changing global environment.
Over three days, the programme will feature numerous panels, roundtables, and thematic sections addressing some of the most pressing questions in contemporary European politics. The event offers a unique opportunity for academic exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue on the evolving role of the European Union in a context marked by geopolitical uncertainty and institutional transformation.
Hosted by the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Catania, the conference reaffirms the University's commitment to international research collaboration and its role as a hub for the study of European affairs in the Mediterranean region.
