The SGEU 2026 Conference came to a successful conclusion with an inspiring final day filled with academic exchange, institutional dialogue, and moments of celebration.

The closing events took place at the magnificent Monastero dei Benedettini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic landmarks of Catania. In this historic setting, former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta delivered a prestigious Closing Talk on the future of the European Union Single Market, sharing insights from his influential report and discussing the opportunities and challenges facing European integration.
The session was chaired by Professor Francesca Longo, Director of the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Catania, who guided the discussion and highlighted the importance of academic dialogue in shaping the future of Europe.
The conference concluded with a reception bringing together speakers, participants, organisers, and partners for a final moment of networking and celebration. The evening was enriched by live music from Re_Move Band and a tasting experience featuring Sicilian IGP Arancia Rossa spritz, offering guests a true taste of Sicilian hospitality.
